Sketches Sketch Challenge #68

Happy Thursday & thanks for stopping by!! Today's card is for this week's Sketch Challenge "SC68" over at the Sketches Challenge Blog. Tamara would LOVE it if you played along, there is no time limit and if you upload to Splitcoast please include "Sketches" in the keywords so she can see your cards.

For my design I started with my card base, Chocolate Chip, layered with Riding Hood Red and then a piece of Kraft cardstock. Since I just got NEW goodies from Cut At Home which included the NEW Label 1 Nestabilites, I incorporated the NEW Labels in my design as a fun pull out tag. The vellum pocket was stamped and sponged to flow with the vintage design.
I stamped the background using Lovely As a Tree in Chocolate Chip and then again in Craft White to make the trees pop. To really age the card and make it feel more vintage like, I sponged on Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip using the Vintage Value technique. For some extra detail and fun, I added some coarse glitter to the trees and landscape. To finish the card, ribbon and rope by Stampin' Up! was added.
I hope you enjoy this card as much as I do, it really warms my holiday spirit!! You can find the Vintage Value technique at the end of this post. Give it a try, you will LOVE the finished look!!
Here is the recipe ~ Stamps: Winter Post, Lovely As a Tree Paper: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Kraft Ink: Chocolate Chip, Craft White, Close to Cocoa Accessories: Nestabilities/Label 1 - Cut At Home, Brads, Jumbo Eyelet, Ribbon - SU, Rope - SU, Coarse Glitter - Martha Stewart.
Vintage Values How-To: Requires 2-3 shades of the same color of ink and a craft sponge. Starting with your lightest shade of ink, use a craft sponge to sweep ink from the outer edges of your cardstock inward as far as you want your glow to touch. Repeat with your next shade of ink, but only sweep about 2/3 as far in (so some of the lighter color still shows in the inner sections). Repeat with the darkest shade of ink (if desired), sweeping with short strokes, only about 1/3 of the way in.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Tomorrow I will share a fun Halloween card and a fun little giveaway.
