OCC Challenge - Snowmen/Snowflakes

Happy Saturday and thanks for stopping by Jennifer's Sweet Designs. It's Saturday which means its another fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner. Our November host, Denise Marzec, has challenged the OCC to incorporate a Snowmen, Snowflakes or even both on your card/project.

Since I LOVE both snowmen & snowflakes, I had to incorporate both on my design. Instead of creating your normal card, I chose to create a pop-up card. I found a wonderful tutorial on Splitcoast, which you can find here. The instructions are step-by-step and they include pictures you can't mess anything up.
The snowman image is stamped using black staz-on on watercolored paper. Using my aqua painter, I used the tops of my ink pads to watercolor the image. For extra detail, I added some liquid applique and heated it to make it puff up like snow.
Once the image was complete, I added it to the base and glued it all together. For some extra fun, I added some Martha Stewart snow glitter around the base. Since it still needed something, I added the snowflakes around the image and added a light dusting of glue & more of the snow glitter. To finish the card, I added the label and sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Today we get to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner. My husband had to work on Thursday so we are planning a big feast with our family & friends.
Enjoy your weekend,

Today's card is for this week's Sketch Challenge "SC204" over at Splitcoast. For my design, I used one of my favorite stamps sets by Stampin' Up called "Home for Christmas". For some extra fun detail, I cut the door so it opens, layered the sleigh and added some liquid Applique for a white Christmas affect.

Please stop by tomorrow, I will be posting a little something special on my blog along with a fun giveaway! :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family & loved ones!!

WT193 Challenge - Pearls

Happy Thursday & thanks for stopping by!! Today's card is for this week's Ways to Use it Challenge "WT193" over at Splitcoast. Sorry about the late posting the last few day's but Hannah has been sick the last couple of days. Since I can't leave the house until my older daughter gets home from school, what is one suppose to do? Laundry... No! How about vacuum... No! Dust?... Nope... Stamp?.... YES!! Since I am still working on my cards for my Christmas Card Giveaway I got right to stamping!! :)

Today's challenge is to find Ways to Use Pearls in your project/card. As some of you know, I am not really a pearl type of girl BUT I do have some so I added a fun pearl on the ribbon and some liquid pearls to the embossed background snow. Those that visit and know my work, now I just LOVE this embossing folder called Winter House by Cuttlebug. The stamped images are from the stamp set Winter Post by Stampin' Up!.
Here is the recipe ~ Stamps: Winter Post Paper: Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Baja Breeze Ink: Chocolate chip, Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze, White Accessories: Cuttlebug/Winter House - Cut At Home, Label Punch SU, Ribbon, Flowers, Pearls, Liquid Pearls.
Before I go, I am updating my Blog Roll, for those that would like to be added, please leave me a message here or send me an email, I would LOVE to add you. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

SC203 Homemade Christmas Goodie 2008

Hello & thanks for stopping by!! I have been super busy with getting the house ready for Christmas along with shopping and even some fun holiday baking!! There is still so much to do but I did take time-out today to stamp today's Sketch Challenge "SC203" over at Splitcoast.

Instead of creating a card, I created this card/project to hang on one of my walls this Christmas season. Since we have two floors to decorate, my downstairs is more of a vintage Christmas theme. The colors are warm and the style is more traditional. My upstairs has the fun holiday stuff, kind of like a sugar-plum Christmas tree. LOTS of candy, lights and the fun bright colors of Christmas. :)

Here is a picture of our tree downstairs. Our tree is actually 9 ft tall, it took about 6 hours to put the whole thing up! Now that the downstairs is decorated, its time to finish the upstairs. As you all know, LOTS of fun but LOTS of work too! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Before I go I would like to announce the winner on my Vintage Card Giveaway. Thanks to all that left a comment, I really enjoyed reading them!! Congratulations to Janet Swofford, please email me your addy and I will get your card out to you. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

Our Creative Corner Challenge - Silhouettes

Hello & thanks for stopping by... My card today is for a fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner. Denise, our November host picked Silhouettes. The challenge is to make a card/project using silhouette stamps. Silke AKA Sparklegirl is our Guest Designer this week, for extra fun, feel free to add some fun "Sparkle" to your cards.

Since I don't really own to many silhouette stamps, I whipped out my Always stamp set from Stampin' Up! and used the bird. I got my card idea and technique from a card the Michelle Zindorf designed called "Cardinals Home". I have never cased any of her work before but after seeing this wonderful tutorial on her design, I felt a little more comfortable and gave it a go!!

The bird was stamped with Riding Hood Red on whisper white cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder. The heart was stamped in versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then took my Weathered block stamp and stamped it with Chocolate Chip ink over both the bird and heart. For a little extra detail, I added a fun ledge for the bird along with a hole.

To really give it a Zindorf touch, I sponged on Close to Cocoa around the whole card, then added the berries/twigs image. I then took Chocolate Chip ink and went around the card again but just not as deep & more so on the corners of the card. To finish the card, I added some fun ribbon along with the sentiment & tag.

If you get a chance to stop by Michelle's Blog "Freedom in Creating" she has wonderful tutorials on this technique PLUS many more!! Please tell her that Jennifer from Jennifer's Sweet Designs sent you. :)

Tomorrow I will announce the winner on my Card Giveaway PLUS I have another fun sample to show you using another technique from Michelle Zindorf. Have a wonderful weekend!!

WT192 JOY

Just a quick post!! Today's Ways to Use it Challenge "WT192" over at Splitcoast is to use watercolor paper. I first was going to design a card I could watercolor on but ran out of time so I decided to use the beautiful watercolor paper as one of my layers as well as my snowflake on the "O".

I started with my card which is Pacific Blue cardstock, a layer of watercolor paper and a layer of Baja Breeze. The background snowflakes were done using the Snow Burst set from Stampin' Up!. The chipboard letters were dipped into versamark and then into white embossing powder & heated.

Before adding the chipboard letters, I used the Vintage Glow technique and layered my card together along with some fun ribbon. The snowflake was made with my NEW Snowflakes sizzlets by Stampin' Up!.

It really was a quick and easy card! Hope you are inspired and if you make a card like mine, I would LOVE to see it!!

Have a wonderful day!

SC202 Vintage Christmas Card Giveaway

Happy Wednesday!! Thanks for stopping by, today's card is for this weeks Sketch Challenge "SC202" over at Splitcoast. If you would like to play, just click here for all of the details.

For my design, I used the vintage glow technique. The background was embossed using my DVine embossing folder. The three mini background pieces were made using my NEW Label 1 Nestabilities and then embossed with the Snowflake embossing folder.

The image was stamped with Chocolate Chip and stamped again with Craft White ink. Once dried, I sponged on Close to Cocoa ink. I added glue to the landscape & trees and then sprinkled coarse glitter over the glued areas.

To add a little something to the snowy scene, I punched out three deer with my Martha Stewart punch. The card was finished with a label and some fun holiday ribbon.

Since its late, I will write the recipe to my card later today...

Verve Samples - Snow Wonderful

Hello & thanks for stopping by!! I have a couple more samples to show you using the NEW Verve holiday stamps. The stamps are available to order now & they even have some fun specials, click it out here.

For my first sample, I created a fun ornament. This ornament is pretty thick so it will last year after year! Directions for my sample ~ Cut two kraft circles, two kiwi kiss circles and emboss. For extra support, cut a heavy duty cardstock for the middle core. (A cereal box will work well) Using your tab punch, punch out a tab. (This will hold your ribbon/cord) To add a little extra detail, I stitched the kiwi kiss & kraft pieces together and sponged on some white craft ink to make it pop! Put it all together and you got yourself a wonderful holiday ornament.

My second sample is a fun Christmas card. It measures 4.25 x 4.25. I just LOVE this snowman and I had to see him/her with a pink layout!! What do you think?
Recipe ~ Stamps: Snow Wonderful - Verve Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette Ink: White, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Cuttlebug/Winter House - Cut At Home, Janome Sewing Machine, Ribbon - SU.
Don't forget to sign up for my Christmas Card Giveaway, you have until December 4th!! Pour yourself some hot chocolate and head over, I have Christmas music playing and everything you will need to get you into the Christmas spirit!!

Verve Preview - Ornamental Christmas & Poinsettia Christmas

Hello & thanks for stopping by!! Here are some more fun samples using NEW holiday stamps from Verve. Verve is having a release party tonight at 8 pm Eastern. I will be there so please stop by & say hello... :)

For my first sample, I used a frame die from Sizzix. The inside layer was stamped and the Vintage Glow technique was used. The scalloped die was placed on top & decorated with these gorgeous poinsettias. To finish it off, I added some of this beautiful ribbon from Stampin' Up! and another piece of Cardstock was added over that to secure the ribbon.

My second sample was done using the Ornamental Christmas set. I just LOVE the these stamps & the vintage glow technique!! The Ornament was layered with another circle that was embossed using the DVine Swirls embossing folder.

For my third sample, I created this fun embossed background using the background set from Snow Wonderful. The ornaments were embossed on colored cardstock and cut out. I added some fun silver cord and more ribbon to finish the card.

For my last sample, I wanted to create a card that was simple and easy to produce. The background was embossed 3/4 of the way using the Snowflakes embossing folder. The ornaments was embossed and cut out. To finish this quick & elegant card, Silver cord was added along with more beautiful ribbon. Since I LOVE this color, baja breeze, I went with this color. You can choose any color you LOVE.
Before I go I would like to announce the winner for the Verve Card Giveaway... Congratulations to Desire from Doing Life. Please email me your addy so I can get your goodies out to you. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

Verve Preview - Snow Wonderful & Snowflake Splendor

Hello & thanks for stopping by!! Here are some more fun samples using the NEW holiday stamps from Verve. They are having a release party Sunday, November 9th over at Splitcoast!! I will be there so please stop by & say hello... :)

My First card is for a fun Sketch Challenge for the Verve's Holiday Release Blitz over on the Verve SCS Forum. There are 5 Sketch Challenges and this is #4. Julee is also giving away some awesome prizes!! Complete all 5 challenges & two lucky winners will each win all 6 of the new sets plus the three new plain jane stamps - a $99 value! To view today's sketch and the challenge details, head on over to the Verve Forum. You can also download and print a handy dandy pdf of all 5 sketches if you join the Verve group over on Papercraft Planet.

My second sample is using more of the Snowflake Splendor & Snow Wonderful sets. I just LOVE all of the NEW stamps & I am having so much fun coming up with fun designs for all to see!! :)

For my third design, I created a fun snow globe. For the background, I got creative!! Since I did not have a clear block big enough to hold the image, I used my Stampin' Around Wheel Guide by Stampin' Up! It fit the stamp perfectly plus since its clear, I could see exactly what I was stamping. Since one of the ends on the wheel guide has a piece that sticks out, I stamped it off the table just a bit, just so the wheel guide went off the table & not the piece of paper. (See example below)
I hope you enjoyed the samples. Later today, I will be sharing a few more samples using Ornamental Christmas & Poinsettia Christmas. Tomorrow I have a fun card to share for Our Creative Corner. We have a special guest designer, that I am sure you are going to LOVE!!
Have a wonderful weekend & thanks again for stopping by!
