Verve Project Challenge - Advent Calendar

Happy Tuesday and thanks for stopping by Jennifer's Sweet Designs! :) I don't know about you but I seriously can not believe that Christmas is only 23 days away! To bring me back to reality, I created this fun advent calendar for the Verve Project Challenge. I created this fun calendar on a small cookie sheet that I got at my local Dollar Tree. The cookie sheet measures 13.2 “ X 9.2 “. To personalize our calendar, I added our family name on the top using a fun font on the computer. This font is called Curlz MT.
Since the cookie sheet was longer then my standard 8 ½ x 11 cardstock, I had to camouflage the seam by covering it up with some fun layers. The background of the calendar was stamped and embossed using the Snowflake Splendor stamp set. All of the dates were made using the square scalloped Nestabilities and layered with piece of chocolate chip cardstock. Numbers were created using my Playground font by Sizzix. (You all know how much I LOVE my Sizzix stuff) :)
What would Christmas be without glitter? Once the calendar was put together, I used the Martha Stewart snow glitter all over my project along with the fun layers on the bottom of the calendar.
Since our family is full of December Birthdays, I used my Birthday Surprise stamp set and embossed a few presents to mark all of the Birthdays in December. The snowman was stamped twice using the Snow Wonderful stamp set. To make our calendar interactive, all of the images have a piece of magnet on the back. My calendar was a blast to make and you too can create something so fun and something you will cherish for years to come! I know my children will have fun each morning moving us a day closer to the best time of year!

Before I go I would like to announce the winner for my Card Giveaway. Congratulations to Nancy from Nancy's Stuff. To see Nancy's card, please click here. Please email me your addy so I can get your card out to you along with some fun ribbon. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

OCC Challenge - Snowmen/Snowflakes

Happy Saturday and thanks for stopping by Jennifer's Sweet Designs. It's Saturday which means its another fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner. Our November host, Denise Marzec, has challenged the OCC to incorporate a Snowmen, Snowflakes or even both on your card/project.

Since I LOVE both snowmen & snowflakes, I had to incorporate both on my design. Instead of creating your normal card, I chose to create a pop-up card. I found a wonderful tutorial on Splitcoast, which you can find here. The instructions are step-by-step and they include pictures you can't mess anything up.
The snowman image is stamped using black staz-on on watercolored paper. Using my aqua painter, I used the tops of my ink pads to watercolor the image. For extra detail, I added some liquid applique and heated it to make it puff up like snow.
Once the image was complete, I added it to the base and glued it all together. For some extra fun, I added some Martha Stewart snow glitter around the base. Since it still needed something, I added the snowflakes around the image and added a light dusting of glue & more of the snow glitter. To finish the card, I added the label and sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Today we get to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner. My husband had to work on Thursday so we are planning a big feast with our family & friends.
Enjoy your weekend,

WT193 Challenge - Pearls

Happy Thursday & thanks for stopping by!! Today's card is for this week's Ways to Use it Challenge "WT193" over at Splitcoast. Sorry about the late posting the last few day's but Hannah has been sick the last couple of days. Since I can't leave the house until my older daughter gets home from school, what is one suppose to do? Laundry... No! How about vacuum... No! Dust?... Nope... Stamp?.... YES!! Since I am still working on my cards for my Christmas Card Giveaway I got right to stamping!! :)

Today's challenge is to find Ways to Use Pearls in your project/card. As some of you know, I am not really a pearl type of girl BUT I do have some so I added a fun pearl on the ribbon and some liquid pearls to the embossed background snow. Those that visit and know my work, now I just LOVE this embossing folder called Winter House by Cuttlebug. The stamped images are from the stamp set Winter Post by Stampin' Up!.
Here is the recipe ~ Stamps: Winter Post Paper: Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Baja Breeze Ink: Chocolate chip, Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze, White Accessories: Cuttlebug/Winter House - Cut At Home, Label Punch SU, Ribbon, Flowers, Pearls, Liquid Pearls.
Before I go, I am updating my Blog Roll, for those that would like to be added, please leave me a message here or send me an email, I would LOVE to add you. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

SC203 Homemade Christmas Goodie 2008

Hello & thanks for stopping by!! I have been super busy with getting the house ready for Christmas along with shopping and even some fun holiday baking!! There is still so much to do but I did take time-out today to stamp today's Sketch Challenge "SC203" over at Splitcoast.

Instead of creating a card, I created this card/project to hang on one of my walls this Christmas season. Since we have two floors to decorate, my downstairs is more of a vintage Christmas theme. The colors are warm and the style is more traditional. My upstairs has the fun holiday stuff, kind of like a sugar-plum Christmas tree. LOTS of candy, lights and the fun bright colors of Christmas. :)

Here is a picture of our tree downstairs. Our tree is actually 9 ft tall, it took about 6 hours to put the whole thing up! Now that the downstairs is decorated, its time to finish the upstairs. As you all know, LOTS of fun but LOTS of work too! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Before I go I would like to announce the winner on my Vintage Card Giveaway. Thanks to all that left a comment, I really enjoyed reading them!! Congratulations to Janet Swofford, please email me your addy and I will get your card out to you. jdmeyer6@sbcglobal.net

Our Creative Corner Challenge - Silhouettes

Hello & thanks for stopping by... My card today is for a fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner. Denise, our November host picked Silhouettes. The challenge is to make a card/project using silhouette stamps. Silke AKA Sparklegirl is our Guest Designer this week, for extra fun, feel free to add some fun "Sparkle" to your cards.

Since I don't really own to many silhouette stamps, I whipped out my Always stamp set from Stampin' Up! and used the bird. I got my card idea and technique from a card the Michelle Zindorf designed called "Cardinals Home". I have never cased any of her work before but after seeing this wonderful tutorial on her design, I felt a little more comfortable and gave it a go!!

The bird was stamped with Riding Hood Red on whisper white cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder. The heart was stamped in versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then took my Weathered block stamp and stamped it with Chocolate Chip ink over both the bird and heart. For a little extra detail, I added a fun ledge for the bird along with a hole.

To really give it a Zindorf touch, I sponged on Close to Cocoa around the whole card, then added the berries/twigs image. I then took Chocolate Chip ink and went around the card again but just not as deep & more so on the corners of the card. To finish the card, I added some fun ribbon along with the sentiment & tag.

If you get a chance to stop by Michelle's Blog "Freedom in Creating" she has wonderful tutorials on this technique PLUS many more!! Please tell her that Jennifer from Jennifer's Sweet Designs sent you. :)

Tomorrow I will announce the winner on my Card Giveaway PLUS I have another fun sample to show you using another technique from Michelle Zindorf. Have a wonderful weekend!!

WT192 JOY

Just a quick post!! Today's Ways to Use it Challenge "WT192" over at Splitcoast is to use watercolor paper. I first was going to design a card I could watercolor on but ran out of time so I decided to use the beautiful watercolor paper as one of my layers as well as my snowflake on the "O".

I started with my card which is Pacific Blue cardstock, a layer of watercolor paper and a layer of Baja Breeze. The background snowflakes were done using the Snow Burst set from Stampin' Up!. The chipboard letters were dipped into versamark and then into white embossing powder & heated.

Before adding the chipboard letters, I used the Vintage Glow technique and layered my card together along with some fun ribbon. The snowflake was made with my NEW Snowflakes sizzlets by Stampin' Up!.

It really was a quick and easy card! Hope you are inspired and if you make a card like mine, I would LOVE to see it!!

Have a wonderful day!

SC202 Vintage Christmas Card Giveaway

Happy Wednesday!! Thanks for stopping by, today's card is for this weeks Sketch Challenge "SC202" over at Splitcoast. If you would like to play, just click here for all of the details.

For my design, I used the vintage glow technique. The background was embossed using my DVine embossing folder. The three mini background pieces were made using my NEW Label 1 Nestabilities and then embossed with the Snowflake embossing folder.

The image was stamped with Chocolate Chip and stamped again with Craft White ink. Once dried, I sponged on Close to Cocoa ink. I added glue to the landscape & trees and then sprinkled coarse glitter over the glued areas.

To add a little something to the snowy scene, I punched out three deer with my Martha Stewart punch. The card was finished with a label and some fun holiday ribbon.
Want to win this card? Leave me a comment and I will announce a winner on Sunday, November 16th.
Since its late, I will write the recipe to my card later today...
